Excellent Trip (Summary)

Camp has ended and what an excellent training trip the team experienced. I have to say Thank you to E.R. for creating the blog and keeping the team back home and parents up to date on our daily activities. E.R you rock and did a superb job on this site.
Camp started with excitement, butterflies, and anticipation of the unknown. As we boarded the plane the chatter never stopped and bonding among the swimmers had just begun. I laughed everyday of the camp with the funny jokes, comments and the constant creative workouts the kids thought they were going to have to do. Neal , Leah, and Hobbie were so helpful and made the camp that much more fun (playing vball, giving technique workouts, dry land workouts, driving us everywhere, and making every meal a good one).
The group of swimmers who attend the camp gelled so well together and helped one another bring out something more each practice. It was truly exciting to see new heights of work ethic, team bonding, the constant "we can do this" comments, and overall positive attitudes. Each swimmer made this camp a unique memorable experience and I thank each and everyone of you for making the training camp an excellent one:
Erik "squirrel" and " Jeff, Going to the girls room!"
Adam "I love Mean Girls!"
Greeno "Mario cart...you should see the excitement"
Brian " Nahhhhh!"
Evan "my arm pits are burning"
Matt "What does B.C. mean? I was told Bathroom Chief"
Will "I love that kid"
Victor " I will race you 100 IM"
Zach "can we have Dunkin Donuts"
Jack " I need to re-apply sunscreen"
Erin " Can you take pictures Kim?"
Kate " Can you please have a boys team meeting!"
Elise" No pictures of me"
KathyrN "Please help us with the pranks"
Maddie "Oh Victor!!!"
Heather "Awkward"
Emma "OMG! HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL"

Lets continue the great work ethic and continue to push to new limits the rest of the summer.

We're home!

That's right: camp is over. Some of us are sad, some of us are happy, some of us haven't quite realized it yet and are wondering who they'll be sleeping with tonight.

For me, camp ending was a real shocker. I'd gotten so used to the constant sunburn, heat rash, and dread for the next practice that I'm not really sure what to do with myself now.

Today's ocean swim was really fun, and no one got eaten by a shark or stung by a stingray. Holker pulled ahead at the start of the timed rounds and completely crushed everyone but Adam. Apparently there were a few stingrays hanging around where we were swimming, but they didn't cause any trouble.

All in all, the camp was a really great experience. From learning that the Pettyes twins were secretly metal heads to catching Jeff singing Wagner in the hallways at 2AM, I learned something about each and every one of the swimmers at the camp.

Since the camp is over, I guess this will be my last post until next June, so, for the final time:

Almost done... Finally!

So much for an easy technique practice... We got to do a bit of fly drill, but our main set was 12x100s on hard intervals. The ocean swim tomorrow will be... I would say fun, but that wouldn't be accurate.

Below is my paragraph on Heather, as well as the rest of the team's paragraph's about each other.

Erik to Heather:
Coming to the camp, I honestly thought that you were one of the most obnoxious people on the team. Now, after getting to know you better since we've been here, I would have to take that back, though I must say that you can be awkard at times. You are certainly one of the most entertaining people on the team and having you in my lane has never been boring; you have a truly unique personality. At practice, you're always working hard, especially on the longer, harder sets. Finally, your obsession with Victor has made the conversations in our room a bit livelier than they would otherwise be. I hope that when camp is over, we can still be nice to each other.
~Erik

Erin to Jack:
Jack is a very important member of our team. I got to know him a lot more this trip. We swam in the same lane a lot and he always encouraged and helped all of us through the sets. He is a very positive person and is nice to everyone. He is very laid back, but also has a great sense of humor. He is really smart too. ( involving Victor in the pranks to distract us was a great idea:) haha) He's a good friend and a great teammate. whenever we have a super hard set, he always keeps everyone going. I will enjoy swimming with him for years to come!
-Erin :)

E. Flack to Matt:
There are too many words to describe a person like Matthew. This is the first time i had the pleasure to meet his aquaintance and his personality is definataly one i'll never forget. His vivid imagination and clever jokes always keep the team entertained while his energetic mood carries him through the long sets. He is loved by all including the coaches who are always looking forward to his presence. He completely dominates in Mario Kart and continues to stay fly with his ganster- essque golfer hat (gettin the ladies!!). Rooming with Matt has been a fun and unique experience.
-Evan

Adam to Grandfather Crust (Greeno):
You may be wondering why Greeno is named Grandfather Crust. If you have not seen this pale beauty, he is just that. His pale white skin glistens in the sun, but it also has a tendency to turn colors. He spends a good 20 minutes putting on 50 spf sunscreen every day and the sun still seams to creep in. The brominated pool dries all of our skin out, but Greeno's flakes off in a white powder, hence the nickname Grandfather Crust. He does not only turn colors, but he also has an amazing running ability. He rocks the morning runs and his long legs carry him across the wide stretch of the pavement. Rooming with Greeno has been a great experience and our Mario Kart races have brought merrories and good times.
-Adam

Brian on Emma Wilde
Where to begin? Emma is a very "wild" girl indeed. Always a party girl, it is easy to hear the thumping music from her room at all hours of the night. Usually her selections are from the little-known Jonas Brothers. A one man girl, she has her eyes on Joe Jonas, and will stop at nothing to win his heart. A self-proclaimed celebrity Twitter stalker she can never wait to see what Joe has recently posted about his day. The other love of her life of course is her mother. Constantly in touch, she always updates her with the news and events of the day. It sure has been a sensational experience interacting with a new member of the team.

Kathryn on Brian
Brians great sence of humur has added many unique words to everyone's vocabulary. Raaaah, he is consistantly entertaining the whole team. His hardwork has made him fast at swimming and encourages the rest of the team to stay positive. Brian getting sunburned is like Erik R not getting burned. He is very into ghetto music and cranks it in the car. He also is very sarcastic and jokes around alot. He is a very important member of the team and will have a great season.\
-Kathryn :)

Matt on Elise:
Elise is a very composed and can be a funny individual at various times. She also has an extremely good taste for comical movies. Along with working hard at practice, she has a radical surfing talent on the internet. After getting to know her over the week, she never fails to mention something interesting to talk about that I always succeed to miss. Elise is also very popular among the team members. One of her many great qualities, she never speaks any ill of anyone, she always has something positive to say. To return the favor, Elise never spends any time alone. She always has a friend by her side to talk with her. Seeing her positiveness throughout the week has constantly reminded me to be positive as well. Way to keep it rolling.
-Matt

Jack to Will:

Will is one of my best friends on the team and I really enjoyed rooming with him during this trip. He was very fun to be around and train with. He commonly helps me think positively, and change my perspective, especially when faced with a hard practice. We enjoyed watching Batman: The Dark Knight every day this trip on HBO as well as chilling out with cold towels to relieve ourselves of extreme heat rash. He has improved immensely throughout the course of this trip, especially in the morning runs. He stuck with Jeff's brisk pace during the runs without dying or making a negative comment. He always works hard at practice and I see him kicking butt on all of the sets, especially those consisting of backstroke. I look forward to hanging out with him in and outside of the pool this summer.

2 practices left!

This morning's run was a good half mile shorter than the last few days. A lot of the girls did really well, with all of them holding off Jeff and Will. Emma and Maddy took an early lead and were able to stay ahead of everyone but Brian and I.

Practice wasn't too bad this morning. We did an IM+non-free set culminatiing in (big surprise) 7x50 sprint from the blocks. Everyone did really well on the whole thing, though all of us are ready for the technique practice tonight. Some of the people in the other group (namely Kate and Emma...) seem scared of the IM set, but I have a feeling that they'll live.

Below are five more posts of us talking about the other swimmers. Once again, I'm not responsible for any grammatical errors, though I didn't see any major expressions of man love this time around. I promise to get mine up tonight...

Maddy on Kate:
I have gotten to know kate so well this year. She has such a great personality and is always fun to be around. She oddly resembles someone else on the team...but I can't seem to figure out why... Kate is always working hard and is always nice to everyone. Although she refuses to show the team, she is an amazing singer, and is going to start a trio with Erin and Adam. Even when kate hurt her shoulder, she pushed through it and worked her butt off anyways. She always has a smile on her face, and is super photogenic...if you know what I mean...can you say awkward!!?? Haha well Kate, you are gonna kick butt when we get back to Edina! Girl you are da best! Love you!!
<3 Maddy

Heather on Adam:
Adam is a very hard worker and is really fun to be around. I bet he is SUCH an amazing singer (even though i have never heard him) and he has a very funny personality. I haven't known him for very long but he always has a positive attitude and encourages everyone. His hard work toatlly pays off because he is super fast. Hes so nice to everyone and is a great brother to erin and kate! I'm so glad their family came to our team!
~Heather

Zach on Erin:
There are so many good things to say about Erin. During this camp Erin has helped the whole group, me included stay positive and look at the better side of things. Coming into the camp many people including me looked at people and saw the people that may not be capable of going as fast as some, however I soon realized that everyone would be working as hard as they could. Erin was working hard the whole camp and somehow (as of now) has maintained a smile virtually the whole time.
:) Zach

Kate to Erik:
Erik has been a very important member of our team. He works hard everyday at practice and is always very encouraging. When I first started swimming with Edina, Erik was one of the first people that introduced themselves. Outside of the pool, his personality makes our downtime a lot more fun. As you have already read, this blog is very good, thanks to Erik. Im glad that Erik brought Victor into our lives. It's been a lot of fun! I still don't know Erik really well but everything that I have seen has been very positive. I'm looking forward to swimming many more seasons with him.
~ Kate

Emma on Zach:
Zach is always a very hard worker, which pays off because he is really fast & muscular. He also has a really good attitude and stays positive through even the hardest sets...I don't think I've ever heard him complain! Although he can be quiet sometimes, he can also be really crazy and fun to be around. Even though I still don't know him very well, I have definetly gotten to know him better on this trip.

Oops

Well, it looks like Jeff posted a bunch of pictures while I was composing that last post, so here's a link to it. It has some people saying very nice things about other people.

EEEE Flack

For only going for like 3 days before Florida I am really impressed with how well you are doing practice wise. It's also pretty cool how chill and freindly you are to other people on the team. Also from only three days before camp you are able to do the fly sets that Jeff gives you is also very admirable on your part.
In Florida you are also very open and like to party even after hard sets through the day. Even through these tough sets you don't give up which is a bro move. Even chilling with you out of practice is really fun and i gotta say your a pretty funny guy and just keep on trucking through the practices.
